Simplicity Bistro is Open

Simplicity Bistro in Thornbury is now open for business and the menu looks amazing.  I just popped in the other day to check it out and the aroma was mouthwatering and the food looked spectacular. The four partners, Chef Andrew Barber, his wife Sylvia, Chef Scott Chalmers and his wife Melissa have done a major transformation to the interior of the building that used to house Sterios at 81 King Street East.  The restaurant boasts a fresh and elegant interior. Open for lunch and dinner you can make your reservations by calling 519.599.5550. Options like the Ravioli stuffed with shrimp and basil served with cherry tomato served in a roasted pepper sauce and the Spinach Salad served with grilled corn, red pepper, cherry tomato, red onion and goat cheese are calling out to me.

What's Keli-Anne up to?

For those of you who fondly remember Keli-Anne Pye-Beshara and her beautiful paintings, you can check out what she's up to these days from her studio in Holyrood.  Here's a note from her:

Howdy all:

This is a quick update on what’s been happening here in my Holyrood, Newfoundland studio.

I have a shiny fresh website brimming with brand spankin’ new paintings. Check it out www.keli-annpye-beshara.ca

I have expanded the retail side of my business to include a new line of Stretched Canvas Prints and greeting cards - see the PRINTS page of my site to order. I have 13 new retail locations in Newfoundland carrying my prints and cards - see the STORES page.

I have branched out into a new medium - plywood! I am super excited about the results. I have attached a PowerPoint showing the process and my first 3 pieces. These 3 CUT-OUTS are for sale and need a public space in which to live. Feel free to pass this along to friends or associates.

I post the stages of my paintings on Facebook and write about the process as I go along. This is my way to paint in public within the comforts of my own home studio – life is grand Join me:

I Love My New Honda CRV

Lucky me, lucky me, my wonderful husband surprised me with a brand new Honda CRV Sport in a lovely shade of sage green for our anniversary.  It was hard to say good bye to my beloved and trusty Elliot my Honda Element, but I have made the transition rather quickly.  The new car is named Elenor...works well with the existing nick name Ellie.  Sounds a little silly, I know, but I have had a wonderful relationship with Elliot over the last few years and he's taken me over 152,000 kms safely while I've been out and about.  Elliot never let me down, always started on the coldest of winter days, was able to make it up Scenic Caves Road in the worst conditions and took me to the cottage (my favourite place in the world besides Collingwood) always a happy road trip.  Elliot and I had a remarkable relationship.  He will be missed, but I'm looking forward to a great relationship with Ellie, the sleek looking, smooth running new car in my life (with a fantastic sunroof).  Thanks to Ward Bond and the Team at Blue Mountain Honda for taking such great care of us through the transition and always giving excellent customer service.  Special thanks to Nick for quietly answering all of my really stupid car questions without making me feel stupid.  The next step is to get 'mycollingwood.ca' on the rear window.  Tomorrow I'm off to see Brian at Park Signs to get the new decal because they do an amazing job of matching the paint colour for a very sophisticated looking colour spot of brand awareness.  Big hugs and kisses to Dan.  That's a pretty amazing present.  And Suzan if you're reading this...no eating in the new car and no feet up on the dash when you're waiting in the car for me to finish grocery shopping.
