Stag and Doe presented by Theatre Collingwood

Theatre Collingwood is proud to announce it will open its 2016 Summer Theatre Festival with Mark Crawford’s hilarious comedy Stag & Doe.
Bonnie and Brad are having a Stag and Doe in a small town community hall kitchen. Dee, their Maid of Honour, is still getting over being left at the altar. Mandy and Rob are getting married that very day, and Jay just found out his entire catering staff is in jail!  Stag and Doe is a fun-filled romp that exposes the perils of pre-nuptial shenanigans.  It is a hilarious look at this southern Ontario tradition.

In keeping with their model of collaborating with other regional theatres to present a variety of high quality, professional, productions Theatre Collingwood is bringing this production to Collingwood from their friends at Theatre Orangeville and Artistic Director David Nairn. “I am so thrilled to be working with David again.  I can always count on him to produce great work as well as interesting sets.  Stag & Doe is no exception and will have people laughing in the aisles.  We have wonderful collaborations with Theatre Orangeville and will continue to open our season with the show that finishes off their season,” said Erica Angus, Executive Director.
The cast for this production is incredibly talented and includes:

Rob ............................................. Jesse Griffiths
Brad ............................................Jeff Hanson
Dee ............................................ Karen Knox
Mandy ........................................Heidi Lynch
Jay ..............................................David Reale
Bonnie ........................................Caroline Toal

VERTICAL BELLES

Mountain Goat Film Company presents a unique pairing of local documentary film and live entertainment this May 12, 2016. For one night only at the Simcoe Street Theatre in Collingwood, Ontario, audiences can experience the award winning documentary film VERTICAL BELLES followed by a live performance by the Collingwood Circus Club. Tom Strnad's award winning film follows the local aerial silks artists the Vertical Belles for two years as they grow from small local performances to major gala productions in Ontario. "I wanted to capture the artistic journey for any creative company and what it takes to make a local business run, especially one that showcases something new and unknown to many people", said director and producer Tom Strnad. The film sets a classical score to the graceful aerial silks performances and showcases how it is a blend of dance and gymnastics.
For anyone not familiar with aerial silks, think Canada's very own Cirque du Soleil, since they were one of the originators of modern aerial silks artistry. Silks suspended from the ceiling or any vertical structure, hang down and artists then suspend themselves and perform drops, spins and maneuvers that seem to defy gravity. The live show by the Collingwood Circus Club features members of the Vertical Belles, featured in the film. Highlights include solo aerial silks act by Tara Leslie, and aerial hoop duet by Kristin Nunes and Aisha Chiandet. The cash bar will also feature aerial bartending prior to the show.
With the film just returning from the Houston Worldfest where it was accorded Best Arts and Culture Documentary, this marks its Canadian premiere. Additional sponsors include the Collingwood Circus Club, South Georgian Bay Media Association and the New Classical 102.9FM.
